Being an island, seafood is extremely popular in Florianopolis. The influence of the Portuguese Azorean culture is also dominant in Florianpolis cuisine. Popularly called the ‘cultura açoriana', shrimp forms a very important dish here. Toca da Garoupa is one of the most famous sea food restaurant in Florianópolis. It was opened in 1986 on Jurere Beach.
