Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative: 

The Pousada Natur Campeche is heavily involved in improving the quality of life of the local community, as well as being very environmentally active and responsible.

A decade ago, Pousada introduced a ‘Social Action Hotel Day', where local children from poorer local families are invited for an afternoon meal. During the day, the children are also introduced to the lodge and learn more about the environmental projects they are part of - so the children can also learn about simple actions that can help nature, like recycling trash and composting for gardening.

There is also the ‘Paint a Future' project, where art is used to help the lives of poor children, helping them to achieve their dreams. As well as paintings from the children, various artists provide their work, which is sold at the Pousada to raise money. This goes directly to helping these children in need. As part of this project, there is already a house being purchased to help the children, as well as computer courses being organised and paid for to help provide further life skills.

They are also associated with the PCTS - Sustainable Tourism Project. Through this accreditation program, the lodge maintains consistent best practices in sustainable tourism, aimed to decrease the impact of hotels on their surrounding environment.
