Main area of focus in Caring for the Destination:  

The main focus of the Institute is to encourage the local fishing community of the Pantano do Sul in environmental actions that can improve their life quality. The engagement of the team, along with the academic background that the institute fellows bring, has been identified by ASHOKA as an innovative initiative that can bring positive social effects on the local community. The actions of the projects include making the youth protagonists, and valuing the local culture.

Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative: 

The projects run by this Institute have been awarded several times by national and international organizations such as the ASHOKA Foundation, JPMorgan, Volvo Adventure Award (Sweden), Sustainable Tourism World Form (Porto Alegre-BR), Brazil Foundation, Excellence Social by Fundo Itau, supported by “Criança Esperança” (Rede Globo); among others.
